Hi All, A 400 amp service with 2 200 amp disconnects to service panels, not exactly sure what size ground wire but I believe possibly 250, is 4 copper suitable between between the disconnects ?

What do you mean by ground wire. Do you mean neutral? or are you talking about the wire to water pipes....There is no equipment ground between the meter and the panels.

Your profile says maintenance electrician... This is not maintenance work so are you licensed to do this work?

400 amp service

I would consider the neutral as the Grounded Conductor, what does Maintenance electrician have to do with?

Yes the neutral is a grounded conductor but when you say ground it can refer to many things unless you specify. No equipment grounding conductor is required between the meter and the panels-- that is why I was confused

But in his scenario, an equipment grounding conductor would be required between the disconnects and the service panels.

My apologies I see the op is asking from the sub panel to the service disconnect. In this case then a #6 is required Table 250.122
