400 Amp service

I have to install a 400 amp single phase main. What size (type) of wire and conduit should I use from the drop down weather head to the main. Can I enter the main from the side or back.

Mr Holt does not want us giving DIY advice. Is this project in question on your personal building or for your job? As a builder, are you allowed in your state to design or perform the electrical work, or are you just double checking on what your EC is doing?

Please let us know.
 
This is not the simple question you think it is.

There are many choices to be made.

Copper / Alumninum condutors?

Inside or outside equipment?

Overhead / Mast / Underground?

RNC / EMT / RMC / SE?

Table 310.15(B)(6) or Table 310.16

What is the calculated load.

What are the local power company requirments?

Ok, tell us what is proposed and maybe we can decide if the installation will be code compliant or a violation.
