400 amp

client needs to mount a 400 amp metered wall mount panel 200 feet from house and then feed house with a 400 amp load center, he was wondering if I could get a wall mount that also had distribution so he could feed his gate operator and lights at the front of his property. Do they make such a panel?

Im sure they do but its going to be very expensive. Can you just tap off a small panel for the loads out there?

When I was an apprentice, the company I worked for ordered such a combo unit w/o getting any size specs.

I was sent to pick it up, and left it at the supply house, because it was as big as the hood of my truck and weighed a couple hundred pounds. It was somewhere around $500+.




Get some of those ilsco tap lugs and nipple over to a 100A MCB Panel.

Run a circuit or two back to the gate along with the feeders.

Don't forget the low voltage conduit for the intercom/remote opener.

That would be my thought. The 400 amp meter sockets they use here have bolt studs so a dounle barrel lug allowing you to tap off a panel at the meter should work,

They come with 1 200amp installed and you buy the other 200. They both have 100amp buss built in that has 8 spaces. The last C-H I bought was $450.00 + 80.00 for the other 200amp breaker. The last Sq D was around $680.00

that wont work if he wants all 400amps to go to the house. He needs a 400amp feed through panel.

Could you set a 400 amp meter main with 2 200 amp breakers? Set one 200 amp feed through at the meter location and pull 2 200 amp feeders to the house one from the feed thru and one from the other other main feeding 2 200 amp panels at the house.
