For 400 Amps service line in one residental building,I have to use 2-200 Amp. electrical panels. May I put one of them on the first floor and the other one on the second floor? How does the EGCs have to be be?( size, and how many grounding rods):-?

Can I use 2 8 ft grounding rods burried in the ground and pull 2 GCs( size # 6 solid wire) one for each panel? Can I use 2 grounding clamps for each GCs?Or to pull 1 GCs( size # 2) on the first floor and from this one to the one on the second floor to use a # 6 GCs.

Yes if you provide a single or grouped disconnects at the service entrance.

EGC or GEC?

The GEC is based on the size of the service conductors and table 250.66

The EGCs are based on the size of the over current device and table 250.122

This is a double post with electric grounding and bonding
