I have a 400amp fusible disconnect feeding a 200amp service utilizing a 1200amp main breaker in distribution panel as a switch in between the disconnect and the service, the distribution panel has a 200amp breaker in it, is there any reason why I cannot use this application.

I don't get what you are saying. Do you have a service that is 400 amp fusible diso feeding a 1200 amp panel and then feeding a 200 amp panel thru a 200 amp breaker in the main distribution panel?

Doesn't sound like there is an issue. If you could, use the correct terms would help everybody, I.E check definition of a service and feeder.
