400W fridge on HDTV circuit

I had a procurement person tell me that the disturbance created by a 400 Watt refrigerator compressor motor will cause the power supply in an HDTV to fail in 18 months. He says it will cause pixillation on an HDTV signal also. Those are the only two loads on the circuit.

I have a hard time believing this, but I have no evidence to the contrary. Can anyone offer some expertise?

had to get the websters out for that one; I wouldn't be taking advice on the matter from just any old pimp:grin: sounds like a stretch and let us know how month 19 goes

I would say it is not a huge deal but I am personaly a freak when it comes to video games and hd tv my tv is is 42 1080p yadda yadda its plugged into an outlet in the wall and im sure its not that bad when i plug in my 12 amp vacuum cleaner but hey I dont know if when I build my house i intend to run run and keep these items on a 20 amp circuit by themselves. This customer of mine recently told me that the guy who had put the new computer inside her stove said it was caused by the fridge being on the same circuit this was a gas stove ya know plugs in just because of ignition and clock. so whats the big deal? I dont know just stating my witness cause I always put the gas stove on the counter top circuit so its hard to get past what you do all the time and the facts so I would say read the electrical requirements that comes with the tv or any piece of equipment if it says dedicated even though it does not draw much power you better damn do it cause there is a reason.

Opinionated reply dont tear the walls out but be cautious next time.

It is possible, as the compressor in the fridge will create a good voltage spike as it cycles on and off.

Simple fix: Put the HDTV on a high-quality surge protector and put a surge protector directly on the plug of the fridge to trap the spikes at the source.

Around $50 total and you'll be well protected.
