Im a little confused with motor overload sizing. If the motor controller has electronic overloads and the motor is 1Hp with SF of 1.15, does it size up 125% or 170%? Also if located outdoors does the OL have consider ambient compensation?

Please check the instructions for the overload. Settings vary by OL mfg and service factor of motor.
I would put a label on the inside of the door with motor fla, sf, and overload setting

And some Ols are ambient temp compensated.

I’ve since found out - these particular electronic OLs have ambient compensation “built-in” along with NEC requirements for both 1.0 and 1.15 Service Factors.
