thanks, I had never run across an aplicatioin that had a torque motor in it, and I didn't know in what applications they were used, the Wiki article gave an example of a tape player motor, that makes sense. Last night was the first time I had noticed them in the code book, and was unclear what they were.

Can't say I have ever used an actual torque motor (not knowingly anyway), however vector drives can be used in place of them to provide a set torque at zero speed.

Do you need to supply external cooling to the motor?

I think motors like the Marathon Black Max are able to get rid of the heat with no external cooling
