It is permitted to install the disconnect switch on the AAC unit like in the PDF that I am attaching? The NEC says yes but some electrical inspector over here is saying that it's not permitted because of 110-3 (b) and because voiding the AAC warranty.
What do you think?

Thanks
Tom

The second sentence of 440-14 is worded in a fairly strong way. Installation of the disconnect on the equipment "shall be permitted." That tells me that the inspector cannot forbid it. As to 110.3(B), do the instructions that come with the manufacturer's listing have anything to say about the disconnect being located on the equipment? Is the PDF you attached part of the manufacturer's literature?

It is none if the inspector's business whether you violate the warranty. It is his business whether you violate any instructions that are part of the UL listing conditions of the equipment.

Tapatalk!

I would not accept it where shown on the attached drawing. The drawing shows the disconnect attached to the removable access cover.

No, the PDF is a drawing that I made just to show all of you what I was referring to, as for the instructions, I haven't seen an air conditioning instructions that crearly indicate where to mount the disconnect switch.

I would not accept it where shown on the attached drawing. The drawing shows the disconnect attached to the removable access cover.

This is what I told him but he insist on his point of view, some small AAC systems indicate the disconnect switch on the wall next to the equipment but big systems does not indicate this.

The drawing was just an easy way to explain what I wanted to say, not that it has to be mounted exactly in that place, the NEC clearly states that it can't be mounted on the removable panels.
