I am in the process of relocating several 240 volt drills to a location that has 480 volts. I have rewired all drills for 480 and I am wondering if I have to buy all new 480 disconnects? I have searched the NEC book for that info and it refers(430-109 and 430-110) to amp ratings and Horsepower ratings. The disconnects I have are 240v/30a and all my drills are 480v/2.9a. Is this acceptable or am I forced to buy 480v/30a disconnects? all other components will meet code.

YES you must buy disconnects rated for at least the voltage you are connecting them to.

Why would they be marked with a voltage at all if it did not matter what voltage you operated these at.

What did you do about the control device (switch) thermal protection etc.?

I forgot to give you a code reference.

110.4 Voltages.
Throughout this Code, the voltage considered shall be that at which the circuit operates. The voltage rating of electrical equipment shall not be less than the nominal voltage of a circuit to which it is connected.
