What is the code violation on this issue..480v motor control system,,,,,Main ,Gutter, motor control panel @ entry hub line and load conductors run on same entry hub to main disconnect back out to gutter and down to motor control panel???? I looked at NEC 230.7 and 230.40 need help defined this issue

Re: 480V.Line and Load conductors in same entry hub?

If the incoming conductors are service conductors, then you have a 230.7 violation. The service conductors and feeder conductors need to be in separate raceways.

However, if they are all feeder conductors (after the main disconnect,) then there is no violation.

So if you are supplying to motor control panel do classify the load side as feeder conductors??
Tx for your reply..

Re: 480V.Line and Load conductors in same entry hub?

From the utility to the first overcurrent device at the facility is ?service.? From any panel (or MCC) to another panel (or MCC) is a ?feeder.? From any panel (or MCC) to a load (e.g., motor) is a ?branch circuit.? I don?t often see a MCC being fed directly from the utility. So it?s most likely that the power to the MCC is a ?feeder,? and that the power to your motor can share the same raceway. However, be aware of the requirement for derating the conductors, as stated in 310.15(B)(2)(a).
