We have some construction going on at the plant I work at. I have 2 480V MCCs being replaced, fed from 13.2kv Delta 3 PH transformer to 3 pH 4W 480V Y. The MCCs each have a tie breaker to go between the two, the wiring between the ties to is 4 parallel sets of 500s, BOY… no Ground. Is this normal? I don’t think I have every run a conduit without a ground. Thanks in advance for all the useful advice. If more info is needed I will try to provide.

Using the term "ground" can have an effect on the answer. If you are speaking of the lack of an "equipment grounding conductor" then ron's answer is spot on. If you happen to be speaking of a "grounded" conductor (neutral),, different story.

It is a metal conduit.
Is the conduit is metal? If so, it could function as the equipment ground conductor per NEC Section 250.118
I do believe it to be metal. At least the stub up is metal. Thanks for the code reference as well!

Sorry sent prematurely…. Yes I do believe it to be metal. I was more asking about the equipment grounding conductor. However the lack of a Neutral will also be an issue for our 277V lighting circuits. Thank you for the advice.
