5 LED strands in series, only 3 work.

1 meter LED strip, cut in 5 strands, connected in series: driver has correct output, but only 1,2, and 5 strands light, 3 and 4 don't. Switched connectors, no difference. Switched driver, no difference. Cut strands again, no difference. Any clues?
