A client of mine. Got equipment Mitzubishi from overseas. Seems they have 50 HZ on some components. What happens in this case.

What sort of equipment? Variable speed drives would normally be ok. Drive belts and the like might need different ratios.. Fixed speed pumps could be a problem. More information..................

It depends a lot on what the equipment is. A secondary issue is the voltage ratings. There are too many variables in all of this to provide anything specific.

As a gross general rule though, whatever “bargain” they may have thought they were getting by importing machinery from overseas is often more than offset by whatever the electricians have to go through to make it work when it arrives. I have consulted for several people who were smart enough to ask BEFORE buying it and in every case, the cost to make it work correctly when it arrived would have been more than the perceived savings.

We run across people who have bought old machines literally for the scrap value at machinery auctions and then think they can throw a few thousand dollars at it and have a brand new machine. Never works out quite that way.

Normally they start to have a cow when we tell them that we want $150 an hour just to look at the machine and decide whether the controls are even rebuildable.

When we tell them a new control panel will cost them $10 or $15,000 the serious cow starts because often they only paid a few hundred or thousand dollars for the scrap metal value.
