Thanks for your help.

Re: 50 Hz system

I am going out on a limb here because I am not certain, but I do not think going from 60 to 50 is a problem as it is the voltage that is important not the frequency.

What if they were testing a 50HZ motor on a 60Hz system?

Re: 50 Hz system

the receptacle will be fed from the 50hz system and clearly and permanatly identified for 50HZ use only.

Re: 50 Hz system

here is the catch with european system it really depending on where it will be sending to the location and the types of repectales do varies a bit but the voltage is pretty common is 240 volt Line to Netural so keep in your mind when you are wiring up a devices for it and make sure you mark it and at the main source or some type of cable it should be marked 50 HZ and also just pass the word the color code is diffrent in european area but typically Bleu for netual and Brown for "phase" wire but please check with their location for the latest scoop with color code but only one colour it is universial green with yellow stripe is grounding wire or "earth" wire.

If more question just drop a line here

Merci , Marc

Re: 50 Hz system

bon jour Marc,
Pardon my understanding, but i interprete that most Euro wiring is strictly 240 without L-L residential? What type of AC power source configuration is used at the service point?

Re: 50 Hz system

gndrod,
it's like an American 120/208V system, just at twice the voltage. It usually starts out as 3-ph at the transformer and then one or all of the phases are brought to the buildings.

bwyllie,

just curious: How do you generate 50 Hz? An UPS or similar?
