500 kVA transformer

wondering if anyone knows if it is legal to attach 3" flex to bottom of siemens trnsformer?It would have to be cut into grate in botttom. I am concerned that it is not going to be a solid connection because it is not a solid plate of steel.The entire bottom is covered with grate for heat dispersion.

BTDT (been there, done that). No code, or UL violation in most cases AFAIK. However, if penetrated area lacks adequate connector support, you may want to consider "beefing" it up with some sheet steel bolted or screwed to the case.
