Obviously underground. Lost a phase. 6ga feeding main inside, so somewhere in the dirt or under trailer is a splice. i was told this trailer needs to be fed from an extension cord. i can put a 50A recept out under the meter/main,(zinsco/unicorn, whatever), but would have to feed it from the 200A main as there are no other breaker spaces. little old lady been w/o all power for five days already. has no money to pay me either. not pulling a permit. she's also a vet. wondering if i can just keep this all in steel and run 6ga out of the 200A main. i got to say i didn't really examine this outside trainwreck very well, just to put my volt meter on it and it read good so....trailer court said it's all on her. i am NOT going to pull the skirting and go look under the trailer. it must a a hundred years old.

saw this in Cali law: "A MH-unit with a calculated load in excess of 50 amperes must be connected to the lot
electrical service equipment using a feeder assembly"

also thought i'd throw in that the pipe connected to the bottom of the MHs panel is black plastic: slaphead:

It sounds to me like the mobile home park messed up then they installed the service. Normally there would be breaker spaces because they will not know the power requirements of the next home to occupy the space.

I have seen these really old mobile homes with a power cord (normally 50 A ). They would still let you use it here but over current protection would be required for the receptacle.

You could probably use a 50 Amp fused disconnect under the main to protect the feeder or power cable.

I think I would look under the home to see if there is a juction box (or not) with the splice. To repair something is much different than installing new without a permit.

Crossover outlet burnt up.

Crossover outlet burnt up.

I have spent a little time under Mobile Homes. If you remove the skirt at the rear center section of the home you will find a 50 amp male cord cap that's plugged into a 50 amp receptacle. One or both of them are burnt up. You shouldn't have to go under as they are about a foot or so inside mounted to the frame. They build them in two sections and plug one into the other on site. The little old lady can pay for a service call along with a new cord cap and outlet. If not you will have to suck it up and do it for free. Remember your moms going to be a little old lady some day. Remember what comes around goes around.
