I have a lube pit that is mechanically ventilated. The inspector is asking for an automatic control of the exhaust fan whenever a car is parked over the pit. I figure there are two options. One would be some sort of sensor that could sense the weight of the vehicle and turn the fan on. The other would be a beam type sensor (similar to a garage door sensor) that when the car is parked it would break the beam, signal a relay and turn the fan on. I have asked around and can't seem to find anyone who has experience with this. Any help regarding the parts (if they do indeed exist) and / or installation would be appreciated.

I installed a sensor for cars at a rentalcompany in newark,nj. It senses the cars come in and starts a timer while the employees clean it. Then upon leaving it stops the timer. APLC controller is factory set. The company name I believe is sendsource.com. I am new to the site I also have contact info for that company. e-mail me if you'd like. andrewdupuis@hotmail.com.
