517.31(E) Receptacle Identification

I was wondering if there is an industry standard for colors identifying the Equipment branch, Critical branch and Life Safety branch. I had some critical recepts. installed in a CT Scan room renovation. The contractor installed red recepts. I called it out because I know the hospital uses red for life safety and orange for critical ( I know this from all the inspections I've done for them over the years). This contractor says orange is for isolated ground. NFPA 99 language is the same as NEC. Any thoughts ????

This is incorrect. No where does it say an isolated ground must be orange. It must have an upside down triangle stamped on it which is what indicates isolated ground, not the body color.

Now most IG receptacles are in fact orange but it's not a requirement.

As for red, that typically means emergency power or generator fed. I don't know if you can use red for other uses. Plus hospital electrical has some extra specific NEC rules.
