Addition to 547.5g GFCI protection shall not required for an accessible receptacle supplying a dedicated load

where a GFCI protected receptacle is within 3' of the non GFCI protected receptacle

why does having a protected receptacle within 3' of non protected make it OK to have a non protected receptacle to begin with.

If a single receptacle is being used with a cord plugged in for some thing, with a GFCI right next to it, where would you plug your cord?
