Hey guys, hope all is well.
Question, I recently was at a job, well, last year sometime and had to install a small sub panel for room for a few breakers. The house was a raised ranch and the wall the panel was on was an exterior wall. The outside of that wall was water damaged, and not complete at all so when installing my sub panel I whipped a piece of 6/3 into it on the studs (sub is less than a foot from panel) and basically exposed albeit for less than a foot. I was not comfortable sinking it in the wall that was not protected, and I do mean rotted out. I can't think off the top of my head why that wouldn't be allowed, it is right next to the panel, and I am pretty sure that it is able to be whipped like that as I have passed many inspections with it just like that. Customer, a year later is unhappy, and says an electrician friend of the family saw it and was "not impressed" with the work. I obviously reminded him of the conversation and how I was not putting that panel in that wall when running water could literally get to it, and if in the future he fixed the outside to bring it up then. Thoughts?
