6' Ground Rods?

There is a local supply chain he/?re that has 6' and 8' ground rods, both in galvanized and copper-clad. The suppler is set up more like a self help store, all the stock is out on shelves, and there is no back room. So all the parts are on selves or in bins or racks. Most "electricians" just help themselves and bring there purchases to the counter. Anyway, there is a rack with the ground rods and they seem to sell just about many 6' as they do 8'. I was wanting yo buy a 8' galvanized, but all they had today was copper-clad, and they had a few 6' galvanized. I asked counter guy about how they can sell illegal ground rods, he said, "Not my job to follow code". (Seems like he has been asked about it before).

Do your suppliers stock 6' rods?

yes, all supply house's stock them here they say they are for the phone people

I haven't seen a 6' ground rod in years. Plenty of 4 footers tho. :smile:

Did you pull them out, or was the cut obvious.

No supply houses in my area stock 6' ground rods, but most EC's here just cut them anyway.

i think depth is the issue to get to moisture

You would have to go much deeper than 8' to hit water around here.
