Installing a 30amp manual transfer switch on a house that has an older G.E. panel with the upper main disconnect section containing 6 breakers. One of which is a 2 pole 100amp that supplies the lower half of the panel. The transfer switch has control switches for the individual circuits to supply them from either the utility or the generator. If I route 10 of the branch circuits through the transfer switch and it is in operation with the generator running, I am in violation of the 6 throws of the hand rule since each circuit is individually controlled at the transfer switch. I know I could do a panel upgrade to cut down on the disconnects but I'm hoping to keep cost down if possible. Any suggestions on how to remedy this?
