600 amp service

We have a single phase commercial addition. There will be (3) 200 amp Square D panels, 1 existing and two more added in other locations. The plans show a 600 amp meter and (3) 200 amp disconnects for the service. The fire marshall said he wants the service to have a shunt trip at the back door. Just wonder other peoples opinion on how to build the service.

If the three disconnects are grouped together at a location allowed by NEC article 230, then I don't think the Fire Marshall can require anything more. Is there something in the fire code, or other local code, that requires more than the NEC?

If I had to comply with this request (I'll not say "requirement" unless the source authority is clarified), I would use enclosed circuit breakers with a built-in shunt trip feature, instead of fused disconnect switches, for the disconnecting means. I would then place a push button someplace the Fire Marshall would accept, and wire it to the three breaker shunt trip coils.
