I'm in need of a 600A fused nema4X disconnect and am getting long leads sourcing something COTS. However I can find fused rotary disconnect switches in stock and I can get a stainless steel enclosure in stock. The fused rotary disconnect switch I'm looking at is load break capable, 600VAC, 200kA SCCR and UL98 rated.
Is there anything special about the COTS fused disconnects that would prevent me from buying these parts and building this disconnect myself?

We do this kind of thing pretty regularly. I am not a huge fan of the rotary disconnects where the handle mounts on the door, as they tend to fail over time, much more so than the flange mounted disconnect handle style. they are somewhat cheaper, so are popular with the sales guys.

Personally I would probably get a MCCB and a flange mounted handle for it and put it in a disconnect enclosure, unless I could not get the SCCR needed.

Check Fleabay, you can probably find one there, but you will pay a premium, because they know what they have.
Might be be tough to get one in SS.

There is nothing wrong with assembling your own.

Have you considered getting one in some other flavor (like type 1) and then installing the whole thing inside a bigger SS enclsoure?
