Tell them you will have to hire a diver @ $300 dollars an hour to replace the bulb when it goes out, now do you really want them?

I'm not sure I understand the question. Are you asking if the cord needs to be long enough for chaning light bulbs when you are out of the water? If so, I'd say yes. The contractor needs to make sure the cord is long enough, period.

Keeping the conduit watertight will be fun.

It can't be a wet-niche so this is the part that makes it interesting. I see them in existing pools. I am talking about a new installation.
