Several manufacturers of swimming pool/spa control panels put a knockout on the side of the can to mount a device like a gfi for the pool lights. An inspector recently failed the installation based on 680.23(f)(3) about the load side conductors being in the enclosure along with unprotected circuits. Is the exception #4 as listed allow this GFI or is the exception allowing GFI "breakers" IN the panelboard? I would appreciate any input.
