I don't see many pools that incorporate LV lighting with pool transformers.
Am I reading correctly that the 120v supply to the LV transformer must have a #12 equipment ground and no splice or joints other than switch/time clock just as line voltage lighting or is there a section that addresses the supply to LV transformers differently ?

The #12 EGC must also be run within a raceway.

Most of the newer LED pool lights I have been installing use 1.5" PVC as the fixture holder, and no metallic parts. So this relieves the redundant external niche bonding and internal #8 bonding as well...

TN has an exception allowing NM on the interior wiring of a SF dwelling but it doesn't change the #12 or the "without joint or splice"
Thanks. That's what I thought just wanted to confirm for the E/C's sake (he ran 14 with splices)

I generally run my pool lights right to the panel, then run the switching how I see fit, it eliminates a lot of the stricter code requirements...

So then are you just running one Romex to your switch power on black, switch leg on white ?

I'll run a 3 conductor NM cable to the location requested, but I generally do high end pools, so they come with a pre packed pool panel and RF remote for all the switching controls. Very rare I actually have to run a switch leg to a location.

I dont understand why they would allow NM on the interior, MC is already an exception, and the whole point is to protect the EGC... so i'm a little confused on the amendment.

A lot of their exemptions make little sense. I've not know of them asking for inspectors input before coming up with some.
