I feel a bit silly asking this question.
When this portion of the code was written, was the idea the 18"-24" measurement was based on the water contact on the wall?
Reason being I'm on indoor project. We removed an existing vinyl pool, steel walls, etc, and am installing a gunite pool with an auto cover.
The surrounding concrete floor had to be cut to make way for the structure.
My question is: The distance from inside of the pool wall where water makes contact at the end of the auto cover box is 3'2". Do I still need to be 18"-24" beyond that part of the structure?
On any outdoor project we will place the wire 18"-24" at that area.
I just didn't know if the code was written with water in mind.
And yes, I see it does read as from the pool wall.
If so, we would have to cut additional concrete for the wire placement. Right now the distance is approximately 8"-9"
