Our Ohio IAEI meeting from May 1 ? 3 covered the final fix for the state of Ohio of the NEC2005 680.26(C)(3)b. "contour" disaster.

The NFPA had previously released a TIA about this problem but Ohio does not recognize any NFPA TIA. This time they made an exception by including the TIA into our state building code.

The short answer of how this has been fixed for Ohio is this.
680.26(C) final sentence before the subdivision is, "The equipotential common bonding grid shall extend under paved walking surfaces for 1 m (3 ft) horizontally beyond the inside walls of the pool and shall be permitted to be any of the following:"

In Ohio the last part is deleted:" and shall be permitted to be any of the following:"

This is changed to, "The equipotential common bonding grid shall extend under paved walking surfaces for 1 m (3 ft) horizontally beyond the inside walls of the pool in the form of structural reinforcing steel or the alternate means specified in 680.26(C)(3). The grid shall also be bonded to all metal parts as described in 680.26(C)(1) and 680.26(C)(2) that are present:"

Also 680.26(C)(3)b. first sentence reads, "Grid Structure. The equipotential bonding grid shall cover the contour of the pool and the pool deck extending ....."

In Ohio the center part is deleted: "the contour of the pool and"

How has the contour requirement of 680.26(C)(3)b. been addressed in other states for nonmetallic inground pools ?
