('99 code reference)
The switch or switches installed in emergency lighting circuits shall be arranged so that only authorized persons will have control of emergency lighting.
My PM and I have different perceptions of what authorized persons are. Since authorized is not defined in article 100 I wanted to see what everyone thinks. (I realize that ultimately it is up to the AHJ)
He feels anyone allowed into the secured areas (IE: non public areas) could be considered "authorized".
I feel the "authorized" person needs to be some sort of maintenance personnel that understands when he turns off a switch controlling emergency egress lighting that area will be left in the dark during an outage. Opinions?
