I seem to be missing something here & hope someone can clarify. The OCPD is 100 amps for the feeder from the ATS to the MDP which is a 1000 amps service. I do not see load management info in the specs. The battery max output is 30+ amps. Sonnen specs 01.JPG

Neither the service size nor the OPCD on the feeder necessarily indicates the load. As the good doctor says, you're going to have to explain what you're asking.

The auto transfer switch back fed into the MDP - assume the min calculated load of the service would be 400 - 600 amps - doesn't an optional power source used with an ATS require the optional power source of being
capable of supplying the full load
of the service calculated load

I see the tile of your post is
702.4(2) - capable of supplying the full load
but it wasn't clear that was the question.
Well a service size of 200, 400, or 600 amps does not mean its the full load. For example, my house with a 200 amp service, the load is perhaps 30 amps as its gas HW, dryer, range and heat, no AC. Often 220.87 is used for existing.
But if this is all new, a load calc is in order.
Like RNatalie said..

I thought the calculated load is the reference to use which I refer to as assumed - absolutely a 200 amp service may draw 30 amps but the calculated load may be 100 amps

Does it have to be 702.4(2) - capable of supplying the full load ? in any context you wish to opine on. There are many ways to view load but that wasn't the question Pretty much a yes or no answer or is that to much to ask.
