702.8 (a) Signs for standby generators

Can someone help me interpret 702.8a. The code says, a sign is required to indicate the type and location of the onsite optional standby power source and it must be located at the service-entrance equipment. Is this code intended for both portable and automatic standby power sources?
Are there any other requirements in the code that give specifications for the type and size of the sign that is required other than in 702.8a.
Thanks for any help

I do not think there is anywhere in the code that tells you the type of sign or the size. If by "portable" you mean "unit equipment" the answer is no.
I would ask the local AHJ what they recommend in type and size of sign.

Colosparker, when I say portable I mean a standby powersystem that can be unpluged and moved by hand. Such as a portable generator. The code does not actually specify permanenet or portable. I spoke to Peirre regarding my question and he suggested following ANSI for the actual sign specs. He also felt the sign must be posted for pemanent or portable standby power, probably because the transfer device is always permanent. Thanks for the input.
