"(2) The service conductors connected to the power production source service disconnecting means shall be sized in accordance with 705.28 and not be smaller than 6 AWG copper or 4 AWG aluminum or copper-clad aluminum."

Does this imply that the conductors from the inverter to the interconnection point must be at least #6, irrespective of whether it is a line side tap or a load side back feed connection, even when the 75-degree and 90-degree calculations on 310.16 dictate the use of a smaller wire (for example, #8)?

No, it only applies to the line side of the service/PV disconnect.

All service conductors have the same requirement in article 230.
