Has anyone supported a 75 KVA transformer from parking garage ceiling with Hilti HDI anchors 1 9/16" depth. with 3/8 all thread. i have suspended
same transfomer from bar joist but never ceiling with anchors. if so any advise besides good luck.

Most garage floors are precast and have hollow sections so make sure you hit the solid section. I also like the epoxy better than the drop ins but drop ins work.

I just looked and those are rated for hollow core and solid.

We hang 75 kva transformers all of the time, personally I would use 1/2" anchors and rod.

What seismic zone are you in ?

Personally I would be getting advise from an engineer,
Especially if it is in a public area !
Legal liability being what it is !

Yeah he should probably get a rigging crew to do the actual setting of the transformer too, in fact why not just give it all away and sub out the terminating to a separate contractor as well. Can't be too safe

Seriously, 3/8 all-thread is pushing it, ham fisted installer can overtorque and partially shear 3/8", even 1/2".

Plus, if this is not new construction, you are at the mercy of how good the concrete is, esp if bare concrete and not above steel pan.

I'd be very comfortable with 1/2" hiliti thru steel pan into concrete with grade 5 bolts, but definetly not 3/8 all thread into bare concrete
- have seen too many anchors pull out or crater poor concrete - and, have twisted off too many low grade 3/8" bolts and threaded rod to have any comfort in the installation factor - even if you use a torque wrench.

I'd use 1/2" and drill thru the deck if no steel pan. You DO have a bosch bulldog or similar with 18" bits, don't you?

we did consult engineer and he said 3/8' w 1 9/16 embedded. we already hung the transformer and i feel pretty confident about now. i just wanted to hear you guys opinion. the engineer was very confident the garage would hold the XFMR. i did had 1 extra all thread to each side for my peace of mind.
