First time putting in 7500w space heater in residential and I just had a question.

I'm using 2 pole 40amp breaker with 8/2 Romex which was what was required in instructions.
However 8/2 Romex has a 10awg ground with 2 8awg hots.

The pigtail plug to connect to the heater to plug in to wall is one used for an electric range as suggested which also has 2 8awg hots and a 10awg ground.

But it seems that the 3 short stub outs to connect the plug on the heater itself has all 8awg including the ground.
Am I missing something or is 8,8,10 correct for running this heater. Does ground also need to be 8awg even though 8/2 Romex is what is explained in instructions.
It doesn't say 8/3 or 3x 8awg thnn.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks

Table 250.122 is what you should refer to. EGC size is always based on the size of the circuit OCPD, not the circuit conductors unless the conductors were oversized for voltage drop, then the EGC has to be proportionately oversized as well. Also the EGC never has to be larger than the circuit conductors, this comes into play with motor and HVAC circuits.
