I received an inspection report listing this as a violation. I'm looking at the 75 degree column of Table 310.16. Am I missing something? I haven't seen if the wire is UF.

Did the inspector give you a code section that you violated?

If the wiring method is NM, SER/USE (2008) or UF cable you must use the 60 degree column of 310.16 for the allowable ampacity.

or possibly a motor,,,

as shown, it depends on many varibles, type load, actual load, wire type, ambient, conduit fill......................

That was another thought I had too, but I "assumed" that it was for a house and couldn't think of anything, but I guess it could be for a well pump or some such thing.

I looked at it today and it's for a residential range or oven. The wiring is in conduit. It was an unusually thorough home inspection report.

Just tell the home inspector he isn't allowed to inspect the electrical.

That works like a stone life vest.

In Florida by statute only State Licensed Certified Electrical Contractors can inspect wiring and have an opinion as to appropriateness. The real estate people want only inspectors that will "play ball." Hence the plethora of Home Inspectors. Licensed General Contractors.

Is the range hard wired all the way or connected to a receptacle?

I don't have my code book with me, but there was a section that covered minimum wire sizes for receptacles........and a 50amp was listed as #6 minimum regardless of conductor type.
