We have a project that we are working on that has an old GE outdoor metering cabinet with main disconnect fused with 800amp fuses (120/208) and then 16 meters w/ 100 amp 3 phase breakers for disconnects. We are going to replace this gear with new Siemens Nema 3R that is 1200 amp rated, w/ 1,000 amp rated breaker with 800 trip unit. The service is feed with parallel 750MCM AL and the sub feeds are in 1 1/2" PVC underground w/ #1/1/1/3/4. What is the largest conductor that we can get into 1 1/2" PVC? From what I have gathered it's only going to be 1/0 CU and it can be rated at 150amps. Has any worked with compact conductors and are they any smaller so we could go up to 2/0?
Since we are basically replacing like or like --800 amp service to 800 amp service what could you see as far as grounding and bonding that would need to be brought up to code? We are going to be doing some concrete work so we will do a ufer ground for the new service. The water and gas is connected in the tenants panels which are technically sub-panels since the gear has a main disconnect and main breakers. Just really trying to put some thought into this to make sure we have covered everything.
Thanks!!
