I have a project where the utility company have requested us to specify an 8000A collector bus to be installed between a number of utility distribution transformers for the connections of service laterals that will feed various switchgear distributed throughout the building. Does anyone know how to size the collector bus for space allowance and know of a reputable manufacturer who can provide this 8000A collector bus built to NEMA standard?

I am not familiar with the term "collector bus" but you might try ABB or GE for bus duct.

The term "collector bus" is often used by Electrical Utilities company, but there maybe a more common term that I am not aware of. A collector bus is essentially a set of busbars mounted inside an enclosure, though I have heard that the bus can be left exposed without an enclosure. The purpose of the collector bus is to allow multiply service taps to be connected onto a multiply distribution transformers (also known as spot service). For our application, we plan to specify an 8000A collector bus with taps to provide (2) 4000A service to 2 seperate distribution switchboards.
