Has anyone ever used there Quartz lamps in an HID system for there emergency lighting? (Battery has to last at least 90 minute). The owner insists that i use quartz lamps instead of the standard 'em' fixtures. So, I calculated that I will need to use 7-100w Quartz lamps.(to maintained 1 fc) Any suggestions on which type (manufacturer) is a good system? or helpfully advise on problem that I might run into?

Thanks,

Re: 90 Minute battery for Quartz restrike

The quartz lamp option doesn't include the battery. I think these are more often used with a generator (the quartz lamps are often 100W or 150W max, and that would take a really big battery).

Also, you probably want quartz restrike with delay. With regular restrike, when the power comes back on, the quartz lamp shuts off, and the space is dark until the HID lamp restrikes.

Fewer fixtures per circuit also. You must add the HID wattage and the quartz lamp wattage for the total fixture wattage.

One other problem with these, the quartz lamps burn out, then everyone forgets the fixture even has a quartz lamp.

I'm looking for a good inverter system that will keep the Quartz lamps to stay on for more then 90 minutes. I will need to run a seperate circuit to each quartz lamp.
