I have one I am not sure on and would like input. Wiring a small apartment above garage. Originally the air handler was to go in the attic space. Pulled wire for air handler and light and recp. Now for what ever reason the A/C contractor installed the air handler in a dormer cavity. The inside of this wall will be a bed room. They installed the AH so the access panel will be between the studs. The owner will have to install a access door in the wall to get to the AH. Now the question. With the access door open to service the AH You would be 10ft and with in site of the panel feeding the AH. Would installing a breaker lock on the breaker feeding it suffice for the disco? All so would the light in the bedroom suffice? There will be a recp. with in 3 ft of the access panel so this should cover the requried recp. The reason being the AH has filled up the cavity and has little or no room to install a seperate disco and light.

It would meet the rec. requirement
It would meet the light requirement
It would meet the disconnect requirement without the lock

Should.

Doubt it would be enough.

If the AH is in the studs (almost flush with the wall) I would have no problem with the "in sight breaker" and room light, but that obviously is just my opinion.

The AH will be almost flush. I will go with your opinion. By the way can you inspect it next Friday?:D

Had a condo upfit where they shoved the A/C, sounds like same drama
all in a drop ceiling!

There is a mechanical dedicated dead space of 30" infront their access panel.

Fine County inspector wanted , RECP, Light and Disconnect, and got all three.

All I can say is be creative & Good Luck!
