can a thermostat be used to provide a line-of-sight disconnect for an air handler or must a disconnect breaker be used?

Re: a/c disconnect

Thought the same thing Bob.A L.V. disconnect would not fly.As Bob said,Ungrounded cunductors have to be OFF...Breaker lock out works,if working clearance isn`t met. ;)

Re: a/c disconnect

Why would a ?breaker lock? be needed? 440.14 requires the disconnecting means to be within site of the equipment. A remote breaker or switch would not meet this requirement even if provided with locking means.

Re: a/c disconnect

A breaker lock out would work if working clearance isn`t met.Didn`t say it didn`t have to be within sight ;)
