A couple code questions

I thought there was an article that prohibited extending an ungrounded residential circuit but I cannot locate it now. I am not referring to receptacle changeouts on a two wire system with gfci's etc, but actually extending a two wire circuit.

Also, section 411 (05) Lighting Systems Operating at 30 Volts or Less is clear as mud. I am looking for specifics such as allowable splicing (on the secondary side). Does the code allow open splices not in junction boxes on the secondary side?

I would look around in 725 for this.

There is no article prohibiting extending a 2-wire circuit. See 250.130(C). You have to follow the rules for extending however.

I did read all of 725 and did not get an answer to my question.

IMO, you cannot extend a 2 wire circuit without getting a ground wire to the circuit. This is only allowed for receptacles- for some reason...250.130(C) as mentioned by Bill

IMO, no unless the lighting system is listed for a complete system. I don't believe splices are allowed without access and in JB's.
