A motor without heater?

I work in a gas treating plant. This plant has a water pumping station.
Recently they have bought a 3300V, pump motor for pumping station. The motor is class HXR ,ABB. This motor has to operate in a humid environment. But no anti condensation heater terminals are brought out of the motor. Is this a fault of the manager who approved this motor?

I don't think heaters could be mounted externally on the motor. They are mounted on the stator in construction time. Is there a way to install a heater on a motor which does not have one? Or is there a chance that the motor uses some kind of non-electrical heating system?
Generally any kind of info about motor heaters is highly appreciated.

...and sorry for my terrible english!!

Re: A motor without heater?

there are ways to warm up the windings on these type of motors without using heaters. they basically inject a small amount of electrical energy into the windings to generate a small amount of heat.

talk to the motor manufacturer.

Re: A motor without heater?

They do make strip heaters that can be installed in the frame of the motor or even just on the outside of the stator frame. I have always found it is more important to keep some kind of ventilation blowing through the motor though (even with a heater in it). Yes as Bob said though one of the ways is to apply a small DC to the motor windings when it is not on. We used to keep our Shunt fields on with our larger DC motors up north during the winter. But, again it proved to be more important to just keep air moving through it. Warm preferably dry air ventilating through the motor will help better than a heater. But you have to consider costs.
