The NEC Index lists a number of cases of abandoned cables and the actions required (Cables, Abandoned). Is there a requirement to remove other abandoned cables such as old NM cable in an attic or an abandoned two conductor dryer cable in a cement block wall when a new 3 conductor cable is installed?
