We have 3 ABB drives powering "3rd wire" reels on the boat. The drives are as follows:

ACS880-01-040A-5+B056+L501+L502+N8010+X1604 480V 40Amp

I am getting a "Fault 3181 Wiring or Earth Fault. Incorrect input power and motor cable connections." Its happening on all three drives. I've reset it twice then it comes back. I am not seeing any ground faults on the switch board. The drives have been powered off for a few weeks and are currently idle. We havent used them at all this season. No one has been working on the drives or the motors. Its kinda an odd fault. Its popping up on all 3 drives. The drives and motors have been in service for years, so the input and motor connections are not reversed.

This is from the firmware manaul.

3181 Cross connection
Programmable fault: 31.23
Cross connection incorrect input power and motor cable connection (i.e .input power cable is connected
to drive motor connection). Check input power connections.

2330 Earth leakage
Programmable fault: 31.20 Earth fault

Drive has detected load unbalance typically due to earth fault in motor or motor
cable.
Check there are no power factor correction capacitors or surge absorbers
in motor cable.
Check that there is no earth fault in motor or motor cables:
Measure insulation resistances of motor and motor cable.
If no earth fault can be detected, contact your local ABB representative.

I have not. The drives are mounted up on a bulkhead and the weather is too bad to be on a ladder.

Because it’s effecting all three at the same time, I think it’s related to an unknown power issue. Possibly a soft start or drive going bad.

I’m going to meg everything out when we get to port.

Megged all three motors and cables going to the motors. Megged out brake resistors. Everything was above 80 mega ohms. No moisture in motor termination boxes. Fault hasnt come back in a few days.
