So starting to do a little project management.
It's a renovation project where they are taking down all ceilings and walls.
The GC has asked the subs to come to the site for above ceiling investigation.
I don't have the details.
Electrical is connecting to existing circuits above the ceiling and the plumber/mechanical running new.

My question is why would they want to do this above ceiling investigation?
What purpose would it serve? Coordination drawings?

I don't have the details yet as to why this investigation was called.

Thanks.

I would think it was to evaluate the "existing circuits" to assure condition and Code acceptance.
Wiring above an existing ceiling is often a real "Pandora's box" quite often having been installed after the initial inspection and often in no way Code compliant.
also
depening on the details from the prints, the install details, such as structural ceiling height, plenum, etc.

Investigation sounds like looking for existing problems. If you're reusing the existing circuits that could be an issue.

Can’t be bad to walk through it with everyone. I recently had a walk through with a GC for an upcoming project and we found the existing f lighting was the air handling type and they were connected to the supply not just doing plenum return, in any case it was good to see up front and allowed us to get the scope ironed out.
