Hello, New to this forum so forgive me if there is a thread similar to this already. My Question has to do with a new above ground pool installation. I am planning on using a water bonding plate in the skimmer basket. The pool wall is "vinyl lined" 680.26(B)(1) Conductive Pool Shells states vinyl liners and fiberglass shells shall be considered nonconductive materials. 680.26(B)(2) Perimeter Surfaces states that for nonconductive pool shells, 4 point bonding shall not be required. My interpretation would suggest that i do not need a Copper Ring around the pool Perimeter. Also all of the wall supports and top coping are resin instead of metal. Should i still run a Copper Ring like a halo around the perimeter bonded to pump and water plate to absorb any stray voltage that could be traveling through Earth and not worry about the 4 attachment points? Attaching to resin uprights would obviously be useless. Ive left 2 messages with the city inspector but he hasnt gotten back to me yet. Just thought i may gain some insight here. Thanks in advance for any feedback

You still need the equipotential ring it's not just for the pool 4 points on a metal shell.
ok so even if its a vinyl liner pool, since the shell is conductive it needs 4 points. Guess id have to drill into the pool wall at the very bottom at 4 equal spaced areas and install ground lugs. Hope i don't drill too high haha.

and if this is the case, it still confuses me why it would mention the exception of vinyl liners as being "nonconductive" in 680.26(B)(1) Conductive Pool Shells

No you don't drill into the pool. You need to run the equipotential perimeter bonding ring. Depending on what code cycle but you need a #8 bare copper run around the perimeter of the pool 18-24" from the pool edge and 4-6" deep below subgrade.

Thanks. Thats what i was going to do. So no need to worry about the 4 points for the exterior pool wall since its vinyl lined and no need to worry about the upright supports or coping since its resin.

Just run a #8 bonding jumper from the ground ring to the skimmer bond and to the pump. If there is anything else that needs bonding, you run a jumper to it as well.
