Hi, it's been a couple or four years since I did a pool.In NJ we are using the 2017 nec and last pools I did was 2014 nec.
In reviewing between the two I have some questions. (residential, one family)

Motors. 680.21(A)(1)
2014 insulated equipment grounding conductor, (A)(4) one family interior ground is permitted to be uninsulated.
2017 insulted equipment ground only in corrosive environment, non corrosive can be uninsulated, (A)(4) is gone.

Does 2017 remove the required insulated equipment ground for the exterior from the house to the pool motor as well?

Lighting, Receptacle, and Equipment 680.22 (A)(2)(1)
2014 single receptacle
2017 no mention of receptacle

Can I assume that pump receptacle can be a duplex receptacle (if wired for 120v).
( where is twistlock, is that pre2014? The ones I did a few years back were built in pools and the breakers in a pool panel where the disconnect)

Underwater Luminaires 680.23 (F) (1) Branch circuit Wiring (There is no lighting for this above ground pool, just reviewing)
2014 interior and exterior insulated equipment ground.
2017 corrosive condition requires insulated equipment ground. non corrosive can be uninsulated.

Does 2017 remove the required insulated equipment ground for interior and exterior from the house to the pool lighting as well?

Feeders 680.25 (A) (There is no feeder for this above ground pool, just reviewing)
2014 insulated equipment ground
2017 corrosive condition requires insulated equipment ground. non corrosive can be uninsulated.

Is this correct?

Question about the filter pump motor controller (Time clock)
Does this Timer need to be located by the motor or can it be located indoors at the panel?

Thank you

The 2017 basically says you can use any chapter 3 wiring method outdoors IF there are no corrosive conditions. So an uninsulated EGC can be used in a non corrosive area.
If you have a disconnect within sight of the equipment, a time clock can go anywhere. I don't think a time clock would qualify as a disconnect. You can put it in manual mode but it will return to automatic mode when it makes the cycle around. That's the dial type timers I'm speaking of. Not sure about the digital timers.

This running a pool circuit with no insulated ground is foreign to me. Can I please have confirmation that it is permissible for me to run UF wire directly buried with no conduit to this above ground pool motor?

May I also ask, if I decide to still run a conduit and install single conductors , can I run other circuit conductors in that same conduit? I’ve never read or heard of no other non related circuits not being allowed in the same conduit. ((like lighting or other loads) but now I’m second guessing myself.

thank you for the peace of mind.

The area in and around the pump could be considered a corrosive area depending on what is used to treat the water.

You can mix other loads in the same conduit as the pool feeder as long as the conduit is sized properly.
