300.9 Raceways in Wet Locations Above Grade

300.5 (B) Wet Locations

During a recent code change course I seemed to have highlighted these two articles and recalled an illustration from the IAEI 2008 Analysis of Changes that left me with the impression that the interior of the enclosure installed above grade would be a wet location if part of an underground installation.

Am I all wet here?

From the 08 IAEI 300.5(B) illustration:

"The interior of enclosures or raceways installed underground shall be considered to be a wet location"

Where raceways are installed in wet locations abovegrade, the interior of these raceways shall be considered to be a wet location. Insulated conductors and cables installed in raceways in wet locations abovegrade shall comply with 310.8(C).
